HISTORY OF THE ORGANIZATION

Constitution of Board

This Society was established in June, 1909 with a meagre working capital of Rs.21,000/- and 400 Shareholders in the name of “ B. N. Railway Employees’ Urban Bank Ltd.” by Late Bhagabati Ghosh, a Head Clerk in B. N. Railway who was the founder of the Society. Subsequently, in the year 1969 the name of the Society was changed to “S. E. Railway Employees’ Co-operative Credit Society Ltd.,. Then again in the year 2008 the name of the Society had been changed to “ S.E., S.E.C & E.Co. Railways Employees’ Co-operative Credit Society Ltd..”

The main object and business of the Society is to extend credit facilities to the members who are basically Railwaymen at cheaper rate of interest as quickly as possible. This Society started business in 1909 and is continuously working for the benefit of Railwaymen for more than 100 years with the active support of Railway Administration.

The Society having 12 Nos. of Branch Offices located at Garden Reach, Chakradharpur, Adra, Kharagpur, Nagpur, Bilaspur, Raipur, Bhubaneswar, Sambalpur, Khurda Road, Waltair and Ranchi covering 7 States in India. It has also an extension counter at Shahdol and Santragachi.

Having facility of Fixed Deposit, Recurring Deposit, Savings Deposit other than Compulsory Monthly Thrift Deposit (CMTD).

Rate of Interest

Loan – 9%,
CMTD – 6%,
Recurring – 6% & 7%,
F.D. – 8% & 8.5%,
Savings Interest - 4%

Members Perks

a) Educational Assistance to Eligible Shareholders b) One time cash relief for Rs.10,000/- to the legal heirs of members died in harness.
